The first business meeting of the Radio Research Section of ECREA will be held on Wednesday 18th July 2007 in Lincoln, England. It will be a central event during the international conference "The Radio Conference: A Transnational Forum" (please visit the conference site).
Organised in advance of the general ECREA conference to be held in Barcelona in November 2008, it will give members a chance to discuss the long term objectives of the section and to prepare for the section’s input in the general association’s conference.
An agenda will be circulated to all members of the section before June 30th 2007. Any member who wishes to table an item of importance which would not normally be dealt with under “Any Other Business” should email the Chairperson, Rosemary Day before June 22nd 2007. This meeting will be open to members of the Radio Research Section only.
This will be preceded in the morning by a panel of papers on the theme "The Future and Dynamics of Radio Research" which will be hosted by the Radio Research Section of ECREA. Abstracts of no more than 200 words are invited from members of the Radio Research Section of ECREA who are interested in presenting papers and these should be emailed to Rosemary Day before April 20th 2007.
Researchers who have not already joined the Radio Research Section of ECREA can do so by by clicking on the "Become a member" menu to your left. The cost of membership for the first year is only €10.00 for an individual. Papers should deal with concrete plans for future research or with methodological issues peculiar to radio research.
Academics who wish to share their own plans for future research in radio are looking for partners for potential projects have experimented with new ways of researching radio or who have experienced difficulties of a nature peculiar to radio research will be given preference.
It is anticipated that this panel will be a first step in achieving two of the core aims of the Radio Research Section i.e. that the section promotes and fosters the development of all aspects of research on the medium of radio and that it builds communication and collaboration between those interested in radio research.
Papers will be presented by members of the Radio Research Section of ECREA only but attendance at the session and participation in the discussion is open to all those present a the international conference.
