The first TWG Workshop will feature parallel sessions and a final plenary. During the parallel sessions, members will be able to share and discuss their research. The final plenary session will discuss the organizational aspects of the Group and delineate future activities. Parallel sessions will be open to all interested scholars, while the plenary will be open only for TWG members.

Submissions
Scholars who wish to present their work during the parallel sessions will need to submit their abstract to Simone Tosoni and Matteo Tarantino.

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 30 November 2011.

Notification of accepted abstract will be published on the website by 7 December 2011.

The deadline for the submission of full papers is 15 January 2012.

Accepted papers will be published on the TWG website.

The workshop is intended as a moment for the collective sharing of research interest among the Group's members and other interested scholars. As such, notice that submitted work does not need to be unpublished.
However, they will need to refer to scholar’s recent work.

Please note that papers will have to be written in English.

Subject Coverage
The Workshop welcomes contributions of both empirical and theoretical nature. The broad areas of interest mirror the interest of the TWG as specified in the Resarch Objectives document.

As the aim is to organize each parallel session around as specific area, please specify the area of interest of your work in submitting your abstract:

- Media representations of cities and social processes, including: media/gentrification, city branding, role of media in global positioning of cities

- Cities as spaces for media usage and the influence of media in the experience of cities, including: geo-location, augmented reality, new public and private spaces

- The presence of media in the urban contexts and social processes, including: new forms of architecture, the impact of security technologies, new forms of interaction with city spaces

- Impacts of media enterprises on urban contexts, including: strategies of attraction of media companies into cities, impacts on the quality of life
